From reading the essay it had a great strengths throughout, but also some weaknesses. What really convinced was the fact that the bush administration did take budget cuts, but they pinned down students to pay for it while we are fighting in student loan debt. It was an unjust move from the government especially the fact they know tuition goes up every single year. So, the argument and the claim got me convinced because we need to be politically intelligent to where we know what is right and wrong from the government. What opened my eyes is that the government is blindsiding students to pay these fees because we are more of an easy target without any of us knowing.
I believe the rhetorical appeals mainly used in the essay are emotional. Even at the first sentence it is pouring emotion as in words like “we”, “I”, and “you”. Then personally talking about her experience at Yale and what happened or had seen throughout her time there. Another reason she uses is reason. She states a lot of facts and background on what she is speaking on and logical answers or solutions towards her argument.
If I wanted to tell somebody about this essay I would say strongly read it to get a bigger sense of school and government. Especially if you are a student in debt to get more insight where your money is going and why it is so expensive. If you really do not want to pay large amounts, the writer of this piece is wanting us to be involved and do something to convey the government to make a change. This essay is a very strong evidential piece that could be crucial information to making a change and lowering the tuition. Even though she is saying to start movements or pacs, but at the end of the day she is helping us by just informing on the whole basis of why we have debt, what is making it more expensive, and why.
Have the government make budget cuts that make tuition cheaper and give people in America the now American dream. With college as becoming an necessity in life for most, the federal government is taking it away from so many people because of how high tuition is and the risk of going in debt for a long time people sway away from it. If all of the people in congress, students, and people who are for college and want it cheaper stand up and make a change.
